New Campaign Board to Grow Support for Hutton Research

A new Campaign Board has been established to help drive forward Hutton Unearthed, The James Hutton Institute’s ambitious philanthropic campaign to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing our planet through research and innovation across Food, Land, Energy and Water.

Chaired by Professor Dame Lorna Dawson, the board brings together a passionate group of supporters, leaders and advocates who will help champion the campaign, extend its reach and inspire philanthropic investment in the Institute’s world-leading science.

Joining Professor Dame Lorna Dawson on the board are Honorary Fellows Deborah Keith, George Lawrie and Elizabeth Wade, alongside Professor Colin Campbell, Chief Executive Officer; Anne Corbin, Chief Financial Officer; Sharon Simpson, Director of Communications and Engagement; and Jules Haston, Head of Philanthropy. Together, they will provide strategic guidance and act as ambassadors for the campaign, helping to open new opportunities, strengthen partnerships and grow support for Hutton’s research.

The board will support the campaign’s ambition to secure philanthropic funding that accelerates discovery and delivers real-world impact, enabling researchers to respond to emerging challenges and opportunities in Scotland and around the world.

Professor Dame Lorna Dawson said:

“I’m delighted to chair the James Hutton Unearthed Campaign Board. Hutton Unearthed is the first-ever public-facing fundraising campaign at the Institute, and it represents an exciting opportunity for the public to learn more about and support our groundbreaking research across the vitally important areas of food, land, energy and water.

By investing in science and innovation, the campaign will help ensure that future generations can benefit from healthy ecosystems, sustainable resources and the scientific discoveries which are vital to enable us to tackle global challenges.

I look forward to working alongside fellow Board members to champion the campaign’s vision. The Board brings together a diverse range of skills, expertise and perspectives, which will be invaluable as we build support for this important campaign and help secure the philanthropic investment needed to bring it to life.”

Meeting quarterly, the Campaign Board will play an important role in helping Unearthed build a community of supporters committed to creating a more sustainable and resilient future for all.
